Mallory Blog Got a Facelift
You may have noticed, over the last few weeks I've been working on giving this blog a makeover.  Well, more like a facelift.  You may or may not have also noticed that the web URL MalloryBlog.com now comes here as well as the blogspot one.  It's just much shorter and easier.  I'm now considering this blog to be the official blog of Shop Mallory, rather than just personal.  It's a place for "The Mallory Girl," a.k.a. the me and yous of the world to come and get inspired.  The girls who are full of strength, beauty, curiosity, fun, and adventure; the girls that make their own luck!

Our content will pretty much stay the same.  Though, it will be much easier to navigate with my new banner/navigation bar at the top and the subcategories on the right.  It sure took me a while to figure out how to code the banner with html links :) !  I hope you love it as much as I do!  ♥ Mallory
Favorite Design & Craft Books
My grandma loved to give me hand-me-down craft supplies and books, and my mom has always had quite a large sewing/craft/design/decorating book library.  This helped start my own collection of DIY books pretty early in life.  College really built up my bookshelves, but all the ones I didn't like I sold back after the classes were over.  Here are my current and perennial favorites:

These are my favorites for inspiration and project ideas: Fifty Dresses That Changed the World, Water Paper Paint: Exploring Creativity with Watercolor and Mixed Media, A Beautiful Mess Photo Idea Book, How to Set up & Run a Fashion Label 2nd edition (mine is 1st edition), and Fashion Illustration by Fashion Designers.

As far as sketching, sewing, and creating clothing goes, these are the most helpful: Apparel Making in Fashion Design, Sewing Activewear (Singer Sewing Reference Library), Classic Tailoring Techniques: A Construction Guide for Women's Wear, H.Joseph-Armstrong's Draping for Apparel Design, 9 Heads: A Guide to Drawing Fashion 4th Edition and (mine is third edition).

I haven't gotten to dive to far into this one yet since it just arrived, but my amazing friends/mentors Elsie and Emma just released this book.  I'm so proud of them for writing 2 books including A Beautiful Mess Happy Handmade Home.  ♥ Mallory
Senior Collection - Final Steps
All I have to do now is make my final garments!  Some are even cut & sewn already but not totally finished.  The only changes now will be minor fit and detail fixes.  It's time to lock myself up in my sewing room.  Senior critique is in 3 weeks!  Then the fashion show is on April, 26th, but after the crit I'm pretty much finished.  In three months I'll be a real adult whose married, has a college degree, and owns a business.  I'm crazy ecstatic!  Have you ever had one of these "whoa, when did that happen," moments?  ♥ Mallory
